VPNREAD / SETUP NOTES

VPN Client Setup Guide

Create an account, get your subscription, and import the server list on your devices. This guide covers the steps from opening the panel to connecting; see the technical references for protocol details and server selection.

No email required Unlimited simultaneous devices 30-day money-back guarantee

Button labels and menu locations vary between clients. This guide uses general terms such as “subscription,” “configuration,” and “import” for the relevant options. Follow the client instructions in your panel, and refer to the permission prompts shown on your device.

ACCOUNT / Getting started

Create an account and save your login details

Open the account creation page in the VPNRead user panel. Enter a username and password you plan to keep using, then follow the on-screen instructions to submit. No email address is required; you can create an account with a username and password. Choose a username you’ll recognize, and use a password that’s different from those you use on other sites. Before submitting, check your entries—especially your keyboard layout, capitalization, and any extra spaces.

After opening the panel, make sure your account page loads correctly, then save your login details in a reliable password manager. Since account creation doesn’t require an email address, don’t rely on email for account recovery. If you have trouble logging in, use the recovery options available in the panel. Don’t save your password on a shared device, and log out when you’re done.

Your account is where you manage orders, clients, and subscriptions; creating one doesn’t activate a service plan. Next, choose a plan and confirm the order status. If you already have an account, just log in—you don’t need to create another one when switching devices. Your subscription works on supported platforms, with unlimited simultaneous devices.

PLAN / Plans and orders

Choose a plan based on how you’ll use it

After logging in, open the plans section in the panel and choose between a monthly subscription and a data package. Monthly subscriptions suit regular use, with data resetting each month on the activation date. Data packages suit occasional use: they last until used and never expire. The difference is how data is allocated and retained, not the number of devices you can use. Before ordering, check the plan name, billing method, and data allowance, then continue to the order confirmation page.

Monthly subscriptions: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data packages: ¥158 for 300GB, ¥358 for 1000GB, and ¥658 for 3000GB. Don’t estimate usage based only on connection time: video quality, file sizes, and background syncing all affect data use. If you’re unsure, read the full plan details before choosing based on your everyday needs, rather than the number of regions covered.

After checking the amount on the order page, follow the instructions to pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT. When payment is complete, return to the panel to check the order and plan status. Confirm both the payment page’s completion message and that the plan is active in the panel. If the panel hasn’t updated, check the original order before creating another one. If you can’t confirm the payment status, contact support through the support page.

VPNRead offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you upgrade a monthly subscription mid-cycle, the price difference is converted into remaining days; review the settlement details shown in the panel before proceeding. This guide doesn’t replace the final review on the order page. See the Terms of Service for the full terms. Once your plan is active, continue to the next step to get your subscription.

SUBSCRIPTION / Server configuration

Get your subscription from the account overview

Open the account overview in the panel and check your plan status and data balance. Then find the subscription details or client import option. The subscription link lets your client retrieve server settings; it isn’t a regular webpage or an installer. Always get your current subscription from your own panel. Don’t copy links from guide screenshots, other people, or search results.

If the panel offers a one-click import option for your installed client, start there. Your browser may ask permission to open the client; check that it’s the right app before continuing. When the client asks you to confirm the import, save it to your configuration list. If nothing happens after clicking, you may need to install the client first or allow the browser to open apps. There’s no need to keep clicking.

To import manually, use the panel’s copy option to copy the complete link, then switch to your client and choose “Import from link,” “Add subscription,” or a similar option. Don’t paste the link into a server address, proxy port, or username field, and don’t edit its parameters. After saving, update the subscription. The configuration has loaded when the server names appear in the list.

Treat your subscription link like an account credential and store it securely. Don’t post it in public chats, screenshots, or support tickets. If you report a problem, redact the link and account details first. If you think the link has been exposed, check whether the panel offers a reset option or ask support how to proceed.

Keeping several similar configurations on one device can make it easy to update an old subscription and connect using a different list. Give the current configuration a recognizable name, and make sure it’s selected as the one in use. Once that’s done, follow the device-specific instructions below to install and import.

CLIENT / Import by device

Install a client and import your server list

Get clients from the user panel; you don’t need to look for installers on this page. After logging in, you can get clients for Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux without purchasing a plan. However, you’ll need an active plan to get a usable subscription and connect to a server. Access to the iOS client requires an active plan; follow the instructions in the panel. Install the client before importing your subscription to help avoid app handoff issues.

Windows

Using the desktop client

On a Windows device, open the client section in the panel, download the VPNRead client for your system, and install it. If Windows asks for network access or connection permissions when you first open it, confirm that the app matches the one listed in the panel, then follow the installation instructions. Don’t drag configuration files from other software into this client; use the subscription option in the panel.

Open the subscription or configuration manager in the client and use one-click import, or choose the option to add a subscription from a link. Save and update it, then select the configuration you just imported. Once the server list appears, enable the system proxy or the relevant connection mode as directed by the client. Opening the app alone doesn’t mean your system traffic is using the selected server. Keep the default settings for your first connection to make troubleshooting easier.

macOS

Complete installation and grant system permissions

On your Mac, open the user panel and get the macOS desktop client. Follow the installer to place and launch the app. If macOS asks you to add a network configuration or grant connection permissions, check the app name in the prompt and grant access only if it matches the client you just installed. Don’t change unrelated security settings to dismiss a prompt. If the app won’t launch, check the installation instructions in the panel first.

Open the client’s configuration list and import the subscription by link, or accept the app import request from the panel. After the update succeeds, select the current configuration, choose a server, and connect. A menu bar icon only indicates that the app is running; check the connection status in the client as well. For more detail on installation permissions and importing subscriptions, see the macOS setup guide.

Android

Import your subscription and allow the VPN connection

Log in to the panel on your Android device, get the Android client, and install it by following the prompts. If you import through the panel, Android may ask which app should open the link; choose the matching client. If no app picker appears, open the subscription manager in the client and paste the link manually. Save and update the subscription, then check that the server list appears.

When you choose a server and connect, Android will usually ask you to authorize the VPN connection. Check the app name and allow it. The VPN icon in the status bar can help confirm the connection, but you should still test the site you want to use. If the connection drops when the app moves to the background, check the device’s background activity and battery settings for the client, and adjust them as needed. You don’t need to disable every battery-saving feature right away.

iOS

Get the client from the panel

Log in to the user panel on your iPhone or iPad. Confirm your plan is active, open the iOS client section, then follow the instructions to get the app from the App Store. If you don’t have an active plan or it has expired, follow the panel instructions before continuing. The iOS client has different access requirements from other platforms; don’t transfer a desktop installer to an iOS device and try to open it.

After installing the app, return to the panel and use the one-click import option for your client. You can also add the link in the client’s subscription manager. Confirm the import, update the server list, select the configuration, and connect. If iOS asks to add a VPN configuration, check the app name before allowing it, then return to the client and check its status. If a target app still shows the same result after switching servers, reopen the app and check again. Don’t rely on the status bar icon alone to determine the region shown by the content.

Linux is also supported. Linux users can get the client from the panel and import their subscription by following the client’s configuration instructions. Installation and network permissions vary by distribution, so follow the instructions provided in the panel rather than applying steps intended for another operating system.

After importing on any platform, keep the default protocol and routing options initially. If the list is empty, check whether the subscription updated successfully before adding any servers manually. To compare protocols such as Shadowsocks, Trojan, VLESS, and Hysteria2, see the protocol and server technical guide. You don’t need to adjust every option before your first connection.

VERIFY / Connection check

Choose a server and verify your connection

Once you’ve confirmed that the subscription is up to date, open the server list and choose a region that suits the service you want to use. Then turn on the connection. VPNRead covers 90+ countries and 220+ routes, but you don’t need to try them all when getting started. Pick a region that fits your needs and leave other settings unchanged so you can tell what difference the change makes. Browse the global server locations page for the full list.

First, check that the client shows as connected. Open your browser and visit a regular website to make sure your local connection still works. Then try the international website or app you actually want to use and check that its pages, login, and content load properly. If the client says it’s connected but the service still doesn’t work, the subscription may not be the issue. The app’s routing rules, system proxy coverage, or the service itself could be responsible.

To check your apparent exit region, look at account activity or region information provided by the service itself. A website’s display language doesn’t prove your exit location. Streaming services and AI tools may also determine availability based on account region, billing region, or their own rules for exit IPs. Connecting through a particular region doesn’t guarantee access to every feature. For a more useful comparison, test the same service under similar local network conditions before and after switching.

If you can’t connect, first make sure your local network is working. Then check your plan status, subscription update, system connection permissions, and selected server in that order. Change one thing at a time: for example, update the subscription and retry before considering a different server. Avoid changing the protocol, mode, and region all at once, or it’ll be harder to identify the cause. If other proxy or VPN apps are running on your device, stop the ones that may be competing for the connection and test the current client again.

If websites load but a particular app doesn’t work, reopen it first and check whether it uses the client’s current proxy mode. For persistent disconnections, import failures, or payment status issues, find the relevant troubleshooting steps in the FAQ. That’s the end of the quick-start workflow; there’s no need to change every advanced option in search of an “optimization.”

READY / Final check

Your plan is active in the panel, the client has loaded the server list, the connection is on, and you can access the service you want to use. Once these conditions are met, you can repeat the import process on other supported devices. There’s no limit on simultaneous devices, but you’ll need to install and authorize the client on each one.
